BANK 4.0 – Banking Everywhere

Augmented Banking :  Banking Everywhere, but Never at a Bank

Traditional Banks are in trouble. It’s not just the likes of HSBC, Deutsche and Citibank who have shrunk their branch and office footprint to a fraction of their previous numbers. Every bank in the modern world that is dependent on branch revenue is in survival mode today, hoping for a miraculous reversal of emerging customer behavior that has seen branch traffic dwindle by 90% since the 90s. In countries like China, Kenya and 20 other countries in Africa alone, mobile money accounts already exceed those made using traditional bank accounts and artefacts. The most efficient credit risk models aren’t owned by banks anymore. The best investment advice is coming from Artificial Intelligence and robo-advisors that can adapt your portfolio in real-time as markets shift. Assets, identities, and transactions are being transmitted on blockchains, tangles and hashes that make old payment networks look obsolete and insecure. 

The financial system of tomorrow is being built from first principles today – in the same way Elon Musk built SpaceX and Steve Jobs designed the iPhone. Just ask yourself, if we were building a banking system today, from scratch, with all the technology and knowledge we have, would will still end up with Bank branches that require a signature on a piece of paper before issuing a passbook, a plastic card or a checkbook? Bank 4.0 is about the banking system that we’re building today and why many banks won’t survive to see that day.

AFTERNOON STRATEGIC WORKSHOP: Customer Journey Experiences, not Products

In this exclusive workshop, founder and CEO of Moven takes participants through an exercise to create compelling real-time banking experiences that are designed to build revenue and relationships, not to push an existing product on a new channel.

Participants will have the choice of modelling a real-time experience through the following channels:

1.       Smartphone

2.       Smartwatch

3.       Voice activated assistant like Google Home or Amazon Alexa

4.       Future Smart glasses like Magic Leap or Facebook Oculus

The exercise will avoid the use of ANY existing products, and instead is designed to surface the utility of a value store, a payment experience or access to credit in real-time, that is packaged based on behavior, geo-location or some other context.

The outcome will be a storyboarded customer journey that demonstrates an understanding of the fact that in the new experience banking world, customers aren’t coming to the bank, but they still need bank utility – and these experiences are about redesigning access to that utility in a real-time world.

The idea is to have something that participants can take back to their teams and work on over the coming months to execute.
